Mamu are spirit creatures or monsters that are invisible to the eye but can be seen by ngangkari's (traditional healers). Mamu may appear in a person’s dreams during sleep, or sometimes are found walking the desert landscape. These spirit creatures can be friendly but are usually thought of as scary characters that cause trouble.
Tiger Yaltangki enjoys creating his own personal Mamu, the drawn and painted figures often resemble animals, people, and science fiction characters. Influenced by cultural law and stories passed down through generations, Tiger also draws reference from television programmes such as The Mighty Boosh and Doctor Who.
Tigers collection of spirit figures are boldly presented and capture an adventurous sense charisma, humour and respect.
